Installation Guide

Set up the two components of Xtra DevPilot: the Chrome extension and the local MCP server.

1Get the Chrome Extension

Choose either the 1-click ZIP download or clone the repository via Git:

git clone https://github.com/om0852/XtraDevPilot.git

2Load Unpacked in Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/.
  2. Turn ON the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Load unpacked in the top-left corner.
  4. Select the extension/ folder inside the extracted or cloned repository.
  5. Pin the Xtra DevPilot extension icon to your Chrome toolbar.

3Start the Local MCP Server Bridge

The server runs locally on port 42819. Run this command in any terminal:

npx xtradevpilot-mcp

Once started, the Chrome extension popup indicator turns from red to Green (Connected).
